Menopause Treatments

It Is estimated that 50% of women in the UK are in the menopause transition

What is the menopause?

The menopause is a completely normal and natural part of a woman’s life. It’s a time when our hormones are changing, and our bodies are shifting towards the end of fertility.

It’s a period of our lives to take stock and look after ourselves so that we can live our best lives and thrive going forward.

The word ‘menopause’ literally means the ‘end of monthly cycles’ (the end of monthly periods or menstruation), from the Greek word pausis (‘pause’) and mēn (‘month’).

Common symptoms include night sweats, vaginal dryness, hot flushes which can result in poor sleep, discomfort during sex or lower sex drive, issues with memory, mood swings and difficult with concentration. Menopause happens when ones ovaries stop producing as much of the hormone estrogen and no longer release an egg each month.

Experts say women go through the menopause at the age of 51 years on average, although it can begin when someone is anywhere between 40 and 58 years old.

Our menopause treatments at CHEEK can help you go through this often daunting and scary transition. Read on to see how we can help

I didn’t feel myself. I remember feeling more self-conscious and awkward than I normally would. And I’d wake up in the middle of the night and the sheets would be soaking. I felt my entire body had turned into a prune.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Almost 40% of women age 45 and older have an excess of facial hair growth, especially on the chin.

PROBLEM:

During the menopause, the female body stops circulating estrogen but continues to circulate the same amounts of testosterone. The imbalance of hormones causes the appearance of some male secondary sex characteristics, like coarse facial hair.

SOLUTION:

Safe and effective laser hair removal will help keep your hair growth under control with our Soprano Titanium Laser Hair Removal machine. We remove hair from almost every area – and show great sensitivity for those self-conscious by unwanted facial hair.

SKIN

Studies show that women’s skin loses about 30% of its collagen during the first five years of menopause

PROBLEM

During Menopause, skin can become drier, more sensitive and lose its elasticity, which can result in sagging and more pronounced lines and wrinkles

“Studies show that women’s skin loses about 30% of its collagen during the first five years of menopause

SOLUTION

CHEEK offers a wide range of treatments to help combat the effects on skin of the menopause, including Peels, Needling, Hydra Facial and Non Surgical Facelift to reduce redness, restore, strengthen, lift and renew collagen and elastin fibres, increase hydration and target fine lines and wrinkles.

BODY

According The average weight gain in perimenopausal women was about five pounds; however, 20 percent of the population they studied gained 10 pounds or more. Not only is the weight increase from a drop in estrogen, but it’s also due to a decrease in energy. In a survey by the British Menopause Society, over a third of the women interviewed reported a loss of sex drive.

PROBLEM

During Menopause muscle tone is lost from reduced hormone production and is often replaced by fatty tissue deposits. A loss of libido during menopause is generally due to decreased hormone levels. During and after menopause, hormone production falls to very low levels.

SOLUTION

At CHEEK Medispa, we have a range of technologies that will help you to tighten, tone and sculpt your body. We also have Infrabaldan, a machine that is taking Dubai by storm. It uses near Infrared combined with gentle cycling to activate the metabolism.

Near Infrared Light Therapy is proven to reactivate the sluggish metabolism which can lead to reduced night sweats, stress, anxiety, disrupted sleep patterns and mood swings and increase libido.

SKINCARE

It’s not just mood, sleep patterns and changes to our thermo-regulatory system that are affected by hormones during menopause. Hormones can have a big impact on our skin too. In particular, it’s the drop in oestrogen that begins during perimenopause which affects how our skin looks and feels. When it comes to menopause and skincare – it could be time to rethink your products.

PROBLEM

One of the most commonly reported changes brought on by menopause is itchy and dry skin. The menopause can bring about a drop in estrogen. Estrogen acts as one of the skin’s natural hydration boosters as it facilitates the production of ceramides, natural hyaluronic acid, and sebum.

SOLUTION

Our experienced therapists prescribe the correct and easy-to-follow skin care routine for you to use at home. Ingredients such as Vitamin C, retinol, ceramides, hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid peptides are ingredients that are an essential part of your ever changing skin. We have an extensive range of products to suit all skin types and concerns.
